OBJECTIVE:
The Magnolia Regional Medical Center Workplace community utilizes groups to assist in organizing employees by information needs or areas of interest. Groups are set up and managed by a Workplace Administrator, with content moderated by each group’s assigned moderator.
POLICY:
  • Only a Workplace Administrator is authorized to create a new group within the Workplace community.
  • Employees wishing to have a group created should contact the Workplace Groups Administrator.
  • All group requests will be presented for approval to the MRMC Executive Team.
  • Authorized groups will be marked as “official” within the Workplace Community.
  • Unofficial groups within the Workplace community will be deleted.
PROCEDURE:
Departmental Groups:
  • Each MRMC department with three or more employees has a departmental group on Workplace. These groups are Closed, and only the group Administrator or Moderator may approve membership.
  • The Workplace Administration and Groups Administrator will serve as Administrator of each group. The Department Director will serve as Moderator.
  • Departmental Groups are designated for announcements, training, questions, and discussion for each department.
  • Employees who are not members of a department should not request membership to the departmental group.
Default Groups:
  • Every member of the MRMC Workplace Community will be added to all default groups upon joining the community. Members do not have the ability to leave or hide default groups.
  • Workplace Administrators and Group Moderators may post within default groups. All employees may comment and join the discussion in default groups.
  • Default groups are designated for employee-wide communications and announcements.
  • Communications within default groups should be limited to work content.
Social Groups:
  • Anyone wishing to create a social/interest group may make a request to the Groups Administrator. Upon approval of the group, the requesting party will be made moderator of that group.
  • Social/interest groups will be open groups and any member of the Workplace community may join the group.
  • Posts within social/interest groups should remain relevant to the purpose of the group, and should follow the Workplace Content Guidelines policy.
Members in violation of group rules may be removed at the discretion of the Workplace Administrator.
